Lake Martin Area Information

Spanning 44,000 acres with an average depth of 41 feet and 743 miles of shoreline, Lake Martin is one of Alabama’s largest artificial lakes.  The refreshing waters that began this well-known getaway were formed during the construction of Martin Dam, completed 1926.  

Attractions surrounding the lake range from historical bridges and multiple marinas to a golf course and the infamous Chimney Rock, known by the thousands of daredevils who leap from the rock mass each year.

Roads wrapping the outskirts of this majestic reservoir are lined with a wide variety of home styles.  For the casual family wishing for a weekend getaway to some of the finest architecture in the state, the laid back lifestyle of Lake Martin offers something for everyone.
