RealtySouth Jim Dye Appointed to Alabama Real Estate Commission
Birmingham, AL, April 9, 2021 - Governor Kay Ivey announced on April 5, 2021, the appointment of Jim Dye, RealtySouth general manager and chief operating officer, as the Alabama Real Estate Commission Sixth Congressional District Commissioner.
“Jim’s knowledge and experience with real estate law is vast. Not only has he authored courses on risk management and taught these classes and more pertaining to a wide variety of real estate topics for the local, state and national associations, but he has also managed lawsuits for several real estate companies throughout his career,” said RealtySouth President and CEO Richard Grimes.
According to Grimes, Dye will be a valued member of the Commission. “The Commission is comprised of field experts. Jim’s ability to thoroughly contemplate situations void of bias will serve the industry well.”
With more than 40 years in the real estate industry, Dye began selling real estate upon completion of his degree at the University of Alabama. Since his introduction to the industry in 1978, Dye has served on countless committees for the Birmingham Association of Realtors (Past President), Alabama Association of Realtors (nearly 16 years of service) and National Association of Realtors (Director for nine years).
Equal to his commitment to the real estate industry, Dye has volunteered with a number of organizations within his community. Having worked with the following including, but not limited to, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the YMCA of Greater Birmingham, Habitat for Humanity, Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama and Young Business Leaders of Birmingham. He and wife Lois are the proud parents to four children.
The five-year appointment to the AREC made by Governor Kay Ivey will be confirmed by the Alabama State Senate. Dye’s term will begin October 1, 2021.
