Cooking Class at Railroad Park

The first Sunday of each month, get a healthy dose of cooking lessons, part of a series of classes presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama. The cooking classes are kid and family-friendly and demonstrate fresh, simple recipes you can whip up at home.

BBQ & Fireworks at Ross Bridge

Enjoy pulled pork, burgers, hot dogs and ALL the salads on the terrace of Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa. Seating is available inside and outside with live music and a cash bar for those 21 and over. Relish in face painting, ice cream bars and fireworks with the family at 9 p.m.

Fire on the Water

The annual fireworks show will feature Blaze Entertainment as the DJ, food trucks, wakeboarding entertainment from Flip Side Watersports, Pelham’s American Legion Post 555 and beer served on the beach from 5 – 8 p.m. Bring your chairs, blankets and coolers. Picnics tables and grills are available on first-come-first-serve basis. No outside alcoholic beverages allowed.

Thunder on the Mountain

The long-standing tradition of Thunder on the Mountain will fill the skies to the tunes of patriotic and popular music for Independence Day. The show will last 20 minutes. Grab a spot from anywhere around town you can view Vulcan. Great viewing locations include Five Points south, Homewood, Vestavia, Mountain Brook and UAB campus. One of the best seats could be your very own living room, as the fireworks will be televised on WBRC Fox 6 News at 9 p.m.

No Scrubs: 90’s Dance Party

For all the ‘90s decade fans – ‘90s babies and kids included – is a dance party for the ages. Jam to the guilty pleasures and underground classics you listened to growing up in the 90s: Everything from Salt-N-Pepa to Nirvana and in between. “2Pac, Biggie, Ace of Base, Backstreet Boys, Beastie Boys, Bell Biv Devoe, Britney, C&C Music Factory, Color Me Bass, Cypress Hill, Green Day, Nirvana, Jay-Z, Keith Sweet, Kris Kross, LL Cool J, Naughty By Nature, *NSYNC, Oasis, Salt-N-Pepa, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Smashing Pumpkins, Snoop Dogg, Spice Girls, SWV, TLC, A Tribe Called Quest, Weezer, Wu-Tang and everyone 90s all night long.” This event usually sells out, so get there at the doors!

McWane’s 20th Birthday

Sloss Music & Arts Festival (Sloss Fest)

Sloss Music & Arts Festival, or known as Sloss Fest, is a two-day music and lifestyle event that will take place at Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark in Birmingham, Alabama. The event features 44 bands on four stages plus craft beer and creative cocktails, arts and crafts, live iron pouring demonstrations, and much more. This year’s lineup includes: Arcade Fire, 21 Savage, Flagship, Big Freedia and The War on Drugs.

Alabama Splash Adventure

Opened for the summer season through September 3, the park has added six new amusement attractions. The entire family can enjoy water slides and rides in one location. Don’t miss the Rampage Wooden roller coaster, reaching a speed of 56 mph.

The six new attractions are: Scrambler, Yo-Yo, Tilt-A-Whirl, rocking Tug, Royal Express, Splash Island and High Dive show.

Family of Fear

Come see the independent documentary about our locally owned and operated haunted attraction Arx Mortis in Killen, Alabama! The filmmakers are selling tickets via kick starter and you will not be charged unless the monetary goal is met. This goal covers the cost of equipment rental and other expenses for them to screen the movie at the Shoals Community Theatre. Shoals Mom Prom

This is a night out with the ladies in your best formal! Bring out your old prom gowns because this will be a night to remember. Leave the kids and husband at home and come dance the night away with your best friends. There will be Hors d’ouevres by Red Clay Epicurean, red carpet photos and DJ- music all night in a fantastic venue graciously decorated by Creme de la Creme Events. Aviation Challenge Tours

Enjoy a complimentary tour of Space Camp’s Aviation Challenge. Ag Heritage Park

The Market is an open-air, growers-only farmers market that operates each Thursday, May-August, at Ag Heritage Park on the Auburn University campus.
