There is no better motivation for a work environment than giving back to your community as one team. RealtySouth is deeply rooted in 20 communities across the state, and we strive on a regular basis to give back to those in need. Offices and agents with RealtySouth have been giving back to their communities for decades, and this commitment to giving back is what fuels our agents to be the best they can be for their communities.
This year, RealtySouth was a part of the ‘Take a Swing at Epilepsy’ hosted at Topgolf of Birmingham, to show our support for the Epilepsy Foundation of Alabama. Their mission is to lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives.
Another great partnership RealtySouth has is with, Big Oak Ranch. “Big Oak Ranch is not federally funded and with RealtySouth’s generous support, we will be able to continue to sustain our loving Christian environments for children and their families for years to come. Thank you so very much! I would love to share the impact that you will have by inviting all of you to join us for a tour of the ranch,” said Brodie Croyle, Executive Director of the Big Oak Ranch.
Starting 11 years ago, the mountain brook village office organized a dinner at the Ronald McDonald house. The Ronald McDonald is a nonprofit family and children’s charity dedicated to supporting families with sick children in their time of need. After seeing the need for a simple warm meal, the office decided once was not enough. So, on the last Monday of every month the office takes dinner to the house, serving up to 85 people at a time.
“You do not realize how much it’s needed until you see the families pouring in. The appreciation for a home cooked meal is overwhelming,” says Angie Perry, RealtorMountain Brook Village office, Mountain Brook, AL.
On National First Responders Day, the RealtySouth Northern office delivered 178 servings of Chili and Taco soup to the local Soup-er Hero’s at both Gardendale Fire Stations, Gardendale Police Department, Gardendale Municipal Court, Fultondale Fire and Fultondale Police Department. For the past several years the Northern office has hosted a hero’s luncheon in their office, but of course with COVID 19, that was not possible this year. However, they still wanted to be sure to say thank you, so they visited each location, got their soup orders and personally delivered them. They also supplied extras for those workers on a different shift.
For over 2 decades, our Northern offices, Cullman, Gardendale, Jasper and Oneonta, have held a breakfast and auction to raise money for children in the area to receive gifts to open Christmas morning.
This past year they raised $14,000! They were able to provide Christmas for 55 children from 7 local area schools.
Each November, the RealtySouth Shelby office supplies enough turkeys for Manna Ministries to provide turkeys for over 300 families for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Manna Ministries feeds over 800 families each month in the Chilton, Jefferson and Shelby counties.
“This would not be possible without our RealtySouth family. With donations from the RealtySouthTitleSouth and individual agents, we were able to make sure local families had a thanksgiving meal,” says Melonie Siow, Realtor, Shelby office in Pelham, AL.
This past year, the RealtySouth Homewood, Alford Avenue and Acton Road offices, partnered with the Rocky Road Fire Station to provide gifts for children during the Christmas season.
“Our Acton, Alford and Homewood families at RealtySouth broke with tradition this year and decided for health and safety we would cancel our annual holiday party. It was a tough decision, but we felt the right one. Instead, we opted to have a toy drive for area children,” said Broker, Erle Morning.
The RealtySouth Auburn Office decided to do something similar, in lieu of their annual holiday party the office decided to support and donate to their local food bank.
With the hardships this past year has given our healthcare workers, the RealtySouth Inverness office provided 60 lunches to UAB healthcare workers. The protocols are very strict at UAB because of COVID so this was no simple task for the office, but they knew they had to give back. This same office is also planning on doing even more for our healthcare workers in the coming year.
Our RealtySouth Downtown office participated in the 5K Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis Foundation. Not only did they run/walk in the rain, the RealtySouth team surpassed their fundraising goal of $1,000, raising at total of $1,220, ranking them #3 in fundraising for Birmingham.
One of our agents in the RealtySouth I-459 office, Tony B. Cacioppo, lead the office to support local families, as well as helped to host the annual charity work with his church, St. Aloysius.
“We did not have our annual church Angel Christmas tree, but we wanted to continue to help out the local communities,” said Cacioppo. “So, our men and women groups got together, as well as church members, and raised funds to send gift cards to 20 local families in Greene County area” shares Cacioppo.
Each Holiday Season,we have many offices, including our Headquarter office donate to Toys for Tots.
“This is an organization we hold dear to our hearts, with many of our agents and staff being parents themselves, we just cannot imagine a child going without,” says CEO and President, Richard Grimes. “That is why during each holiday season, we make all 21 of our office locations a Toys for Tots drop-off spot.”
